When a conversation matters to a divorce, a custody arrangement, a contract or a workplace dispute, the messages are usually there. What’s missing is a clear, referenceable record that the people involved can work with — prepared without handing the conversation to yet another company.

What we do

ScanMyChat is evidence preparation software from a small, independent software company. It takes a WhatsApp chat export and produces an organized package: a chronological, page-numbered transcript, an attachment index, consistency checks flagged for review, a chain-of-custody worksheet and SHA-256 integrity records that anyone can verify with free tools.

We are not a law firm and don’t give legal advice. We’re not a forensic lab either. Our job is to save the person with the phone — and the professional reviewing it — the hours of sorting that come before the real work on a case.

Principles

Make the strongest claim we can prove — and no stronger.

A SHA-256 fingerprint shows a file hasn’t changed. It doesn’t show who wrote a message, and no software can promise a court will admit anything. We say exactly what the package establishes and where it stops, in the product, the report and on this site.

Privacy by architecture, not by promise.

The conversations people bring to us are often the most sensitive they have. So the software is built to process them in the browser, where we never receive them — and anyone can check that in their browser’s Network tab.

Be transparent about limits.

Exports miss things. Display names come from someone’s contacts. Timestamps are in the phone’s local time. We list these limitations publicly and inside every report, because the people relying on the package need to know them.

Where we’re going

WhatsApp is where we started because it’s where most of these conversations happen. The same approach — local processing, a referenceable record, honest integrity data — applies to other sources. These are planned; we don’t publish dates until something is ready.
