They add the case reference and your page-number prefix, and download a single ZIP. Their chat is processed on their own device.

You receive a consistent package
Every client’s evidence arrives in the same structure: transcript PDF, CSV, attachment index, integrity manifest and verification instructions.
Your office prepares it
Best for firms handling several matters and wanting one consistent format and prefix scheme.

Receive the client’s export
Ask the client for WhatsApp’s own “Export chat” file, ideally with media — not screenshots.

Process it in your browser
Import it into the workspace on your office machine. Nothing is uploaded to us.

Issue a package per matter
Use your own prefix per matter (e.g. REED-000001), fill in the chain-of-custody fields, and file the ZIP with the matter.
Client confidentiality
No client conversation on a third-party server.
Most document tools require an upload, which means another vendor holding privileged or highly personal material — and another question to answer about where it is stored and who can access it.
ScanMyChat processes the export in the browser tab. Message text, names, attachments and file names are not sent to us. What does reach a server is limited to payment details (handled by Polar), the licence key with a one-way SHA-256 fingerprint of the source file, anonymous usage events and standard hosting logs.

Honest limitations
What it will not do for you.
- The package organizes and fingerprints what WhatsApp exported. It does not recover deleted messages, reactions, call logs or device metadata.
- It cannot show who typed a message. Authentication still depends on testimony and, where needed, device or account records.
- Display names reflect the exporting phone’s contacts, and timestamps are the device’s local time as exported.
- Consistency checks flag items for review; they are not a forensic examination. Where manipulation is alleged, a forensic examiner may be needed.
- Whether the package is admissible is for the court under your jurisdiction’s rules. The declaration template is unsigned and must be adapted by you.
